WOW -- more great advice in the comments. I used the humidifier last night. My nose is still dry, but not as bad as the night before. Gels? Sprays? Oh boy -- I guess I need to go to the drugstore. I don't pay much attention to all that stuff; hence - I have a dry nose! But I'm trying to be much more conscientious of whether I'm breathing through my nose or mouth. I'm definitely a nose breather.
OK -- so yesterday was a bit of a humbling day. Besides doing one presentation, I didn't get much else ...
read moreBonjour!!! I survived! The French presentation was far from perfect, but I did it! Oh my gosh -- I remember when I could slip between French and English with no thought, and I still can. It's just that there's a whole lot of new terms that are not in my vocabulary!
I have to laugh because I get an e-mail from Grammarly with my stats for all my writing.
Oh my -- there needs to be a handbook for new homeowners. Some people have bought homes with things that they really don't know much about, or it might be their first home and no clue. The item in question is the sprinkler system. I'm not an expert on the subject, but I do know that you shouldn't water your lawn every day, and it's best to water it really early in the morning or late at night. Why? Well, there's less evaporation if you water in the late evening or early morning, and the darn ...
read moreWOW -- I see that we are all experiencing quite different scenarios with the needles and fusible products. That requires a bit more research, to be sure.
And I see there are other people experiencing issues with Fitbit syncing. Thank goodness it's not just me. I can't afford to lose a single KM. My big challenge this year is to walk 4,200 KM in 365 days. I'm right on track, and you'll see more of that next week.
Not one to shirk from a fun event, three of us have signed up for The Big Canada ...
read moreWe had the most AMAZING wrap-up session for Long Time Gone. I was truly impressed by the work of everyone! Color choices were a challenge, piecing tons of small pieces, not getting out to buy fabric, and a whole lot more. But the group came through with flying colors. I'll be sharing their wonderful projects later this week. And so many of the group got their tops together.
I'm so grateful to all of them for signing up for that crazy journey. I don't think I would have made the quilt without them. It was truly a ...
read moreWow, I'm keeping up with the #AtoZchallenge2021Quilt (Art) on Instagram. It's been a long, hard week but I managed it. This is the second last week of April and I'm going to show you what I posted, from P to U!
P is for Paper
The piece is Momigami tree and was created based on a workshop with Cas Holmes through TextileArtist.org in August 2020. Momigami is Japanese for cloth made of kneaded paper. We adapted the process by using long-fibred paper and kneading it with a little bit of oil until it become more supple ...

What a totally crazy day! But it was a good day! I did two things - and I know I'm not going to have time to tell you about both - so do we talk about decluttering, or do we talk about sewing? Let's see how much time I have.
By the way, someone suggested that I could use the scrappy strips for a log cabin quilt. The narrow ones would work! I'm going to tuck that in the back of my mind. Thanks for the suggestion.
Oh - let's talk about sewing!
I have a couple of guild ...
read moreI'm feeling pretty accomplished these days. I still have a lot to do, but I'm making progress in all areas, which feels good. I have the time to work on things that are not urgent, and well, things are under control. However, I did forget that I had a meeting yesterday. Oh - it was in my calendar, and well, I was so focused sewing in the afternoon that POOF - the thought never occurred to me.
I must get better about reviewing the day's events in the morning so that the items stick in my head!!
The good ...

Oh my - I have the BEST friends in the world! And a lot of them showed up for the Virtual Retreat. We got to meet new people, we got to chat with people from Western Canada and many from Ontario and Germany. I want to thank EVERYONE who stopped by - I learned so much. And I honestly don't feel shut in at all. Yes - I get it that it's not the same as in person, but what is nice is that people change up each time and even throughout the day. That brings up all sorts of conversations ...

Mission accomplished - the magazine article was approved by the editor, although I had to scramble to get a wee bit of information to her. No problem - it's done! Already thinking about the next topic. I'll let you know when the article gets published.
The other magazine quilt is done! I didn't get a box out yesterday, but now I have two ...
read more I finally reached the end of the line and Blogger is forcing me to use the new one. Not happy and have no idea how this post will turn out. Any other better alternatives out there? Things aren't stressful enough? Hmm? Why is it putting extra spaces between paragraphs, how can I save the post as a draft? Can you no longer write multiple posts at a time and decide when they will go out? Is there a decent help file anywhere?
I needed to work on something fun, so I grabbed my Bonnie Hunter String Frenzy book and ...

Have you ever had one of those days when NOTHING seemed to go right? Yesterday was one of those days. I rarely feel like throwing in the towel, but I was tempted on numerous occasions. However, I maintained a level head and kept working methodically through the fiascos trying to make sense of the crazy day.
The modem that was to arrive between 9 and 9:30 still wasn't here by 4 PM. A call indicated that it would likely be delivered today. Fortunately, DH's Zoom call didn't go down, although it slowed. I didn't ...

Another super productive day! One of the magazine quilts is quilted and almost trimmed. I've got to make the binding this morning and get that attached. The second quilt is loaded and ready to start quilting this morning. I was going to quilt it last night, but then I was tired, so I abandoned that idea. I still have to make the binding for it and do something for sleeves for the back. I hope I can find one that I can pin on rather than having to make a new one. The goal is to get them in ...
It was a glorious day yesterday! I accomplished a lot, saw a lot, and well - just a great day!!
Often, when I go for a walk, I take my phone. Not because of the social media, which I'm hardly on these days, and I don't miss it a single bit, not because someone might text me or call me - I rarely get messages, unless it's from M who wants to know what's happening with Little Bear. Nope - I take my phone because it has a fantastic camera on it.
I stopped to take a picture of ...
It was a super productive day! I love those kinds of days. If you're like me, you just can't sew fast enough to keep up with the ideas in your head. And these are NOT new ideas. These are just things that I find around the studio that I think will only take a few hours to finish, and well, days later, I'm still working on them.
I decided it was time to get something finished instead of just thinking about finishing it or advancing the project.
The first thing to deal with was changing that light ...
What a fabulous day. Some time spent with friends - wearing masks and social distancing, of course. But hey - the pandemic does NOT mean you need to be confined to your house and does NOT mean you can't visit with friends. Let's get out there and accept the new normal. We should NOT and will NOT let this pandemic get us down. Get OUT of the house.
I know that some people are more cautious than others, due to health or family or whatever. And we each need to make our own decisions as to how we get used ...
